TomyVic 6-Inch Mini Chainsaw Review
TomyVic sent this 6-inch mini battery-powered chainsaw to us in exchange for a video review. I like it! It works great, even on seasoned hardwood such as oak, up to 5-inches in diameter. The batteries last a long time. I don't know exactly how long though. I cleared out part of a fence row, and sawed some large fallen branches and the first battery is still going strong. The mini chainsaw could work great for camping trips when staying in an area that lets you pick up fallen wood for campfire use.

    I made one out of a old plow disk about 10 years ago. I used horse shoes for the handles and welded a ring on the bottom so that it set level on a fish fryer. I've made chili and stew in it, but my favorites is making breakfast burritos and frying crawdads in it.

    Ok, great. Thanks for confirming my thoughts on efficiency as to the reason for the drops-first instructions. Opening after the treated 2.5 gallons will not jeopardize the effectiveness of the water preserver? I've read, "Do not open until you're ready to drink." I'm guessing that's not applicable if opening momentarily. Again, thanks for creating this content and sharing your knowledge and experience. I'm hoping more people are realizing they need to be ready in case services we've taken for granted for so long, are interrupted.

  • @WalterDavidRiffmon
    @WalterDavidRiffmon 18 дней назад

    Thanks for your review on this product. Your review is one of the few, (or only) real review of this water preserver. I bought 5 gallon military dark green water storage containers. The directions on this water preserver solution states to put the drops into the container before you fill the water into the container. For me, that cannot be done due to me using filtered water from an Alexapure filter system. So I can only fill 2.5 gallons at a time. Do you think that the instructions to put the drops into an empty container prior to the water being filled, is to assist in mixing it altogether? I don't want to put the drops into the empty 5 gallon containers, then fill 2.5 gallons, close it, filter mother other 2.5 gallons, than open it to fill the remaining. Sorry for the long question but there's so many assumptions in this world of water preservation and not enough detailed instructions for newbies.

    • @wobblyotteroutdoors
      @wobblyotteroutdoors 18 дней назад

      You're welcome. Thank you for watching and the thoughtful comments. Yes, I think putting in the drops first is to assist in mixing the drops with the water. For your setup, it might work to filter and add the first 2.5 gallons of water. When you have the next 2.5 gallons of water filtered, add the drops, then add the remainder of the water. That should still assist with the mixing.

      You're welcome. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. It's hard to beat cast iron pans, especially those that have been in the family for generations. The plow disk pans from Southwest Disk are also quite heavy due to their size and thick steel. You are spot on about them being great for large groups.

    Garberg can 99% hard works almost same as Gerber strongarm, but mora garberg is better in work with wood (deeper cuts) and scandi grind is more easy for sharpening (blade angle).. Garberg has too better steel material.. and flat grind on strongarm can be problem in future, because flat grind needs profesional sharpening after longer time because grind lost geometry and will problems with very low edge retention if you dont realy profesional in sharpening knives.

      So cool. I hope you get loads of use out of it. When I took off the sprocket cover to put the chain back on, it didn't take many turns to remove the nut that holds on the sprocket cover. Please check to be sure that nut is tight on yours when you receive it. It is something I didn't think to check beforehand. Bill and I both wonder if that helped make it possible for the chain to come off the bar. I only mention this because I want you to have the best possible experience.

    I bought this about two months ago to clear an area for a garage. Up to 5 inch oaks. I have beat the crap out of this thing figuring I would just kill it. It is still going and it is time to replace the blade. For the money it is great. Keep the blade tight it loosens easily.

    • @wobblyotteroutdoors
      @wobblyotteroutdoors Месяц назад

      This is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing. Yes, I too have noticed that the chain tends to loosen with use, and I tightened it along the way. On ours, after I removed the sprocket cover, replaced the chain, and tightened everything back up, the chain didn't loosen as quickly as it had initially. Maybe there is a chain break-in period. The nut that holds on the sprocket cover was not on tightly (from "the factory") when I went to put the chain back on. Wondering if that may have also made it easier for the chain to come off the bar when it became wedged in the wood during use.
